The Fall River Minor Football Association (FRMFA), was founded in November of 2004 by a group of local residents on a mission to pioneer the sport of Tackle Football in the greater Fall River, Waverley, Windsor Junction, East Hants and Beaver Bank area. The Association was registered as a non-profit society with Nova Scotia Joint Stocks in February of 2005. The founding directors of the organization were Steve Boyce, Daniel Chisholm, Stan Hennigar, Lynn Langrock, Greg MacLean, Terry Thorne, and Chris Valardo. Field operations commenced in the spring of 2005 with the introduction of co-ed Flag Football. This was followed with the development of the Peewee Dragons Tackle Team in August of the same year. A major expansion occurred in 2006 with the introduction of both Mite and Bantam Tackle Teams.
The Association is affiliated with the Nova Scotia Minor Football Association with teams playing in the Nova Scotia Football League. FRMFA falls under the umbrella of Sport Nova Scotia sanctioned by Football Nova Scotia.
The objectives of FRMFA are to facilitate the administration and associated logistics to provide a safe, friendly, and enjoyable football experience to all ages and skill levels at the minor level. Through training and development of players, coaches and managers, FRMFA will provide opportunities for both competitive and recreational players.
The FRMFA is a community-based initiative, whose founding was spurred with an interest to develop young athletes into quality football players. Our aim is cohesion amongst the various teams with eventual graduation of members to the Lockview High School Football Program. With the proper community, administrative, and coaching support, numerous members will have played at the University level.
